Presently I am pursuing a PhD on Prosodic structure in indigenous Yucatec-Mayan Sign Language, specifically its functions in prosodic boundary in narrative and dialects. Also my MPhil/PhD study in the field of linguistics at DCAL/UCL and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) will strengthen my expertise in language documentation. Furthermore, I earned my BA degree in Signed Language Linguistics and minor in Anthropology from the University of New Mexico (UNM). My MA degree in ASL/Deaf Studies was completed at Gallaudet University.

My interests in linguistics involve comparing sign languages within urban and rural areas around the planet regarding their prosodic structure; recognition of grammar in sign languages; sign acquisition differences across cultures; preservation of sign languages (includes indigenous signs); typology; and language development between parents and children. One of my long-term goals is to develop the prosodic structure in sign languages along with other linguists.
