An important good practice agreement on involving d/Deaf children in academic research has recently been coordinated by ESRC funded, Deafness Cognition and Language Research Centre (DCAL) and The Sign Bilingual Consortium. Using its standing as the leading academic research centre in the field DCAL brought together a wide range of organisations to develop a good practice agreement for research with deaf children.

The agreement was originally drawn up between coordinating partners based in London at DCAL and Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children. Collaborators include universities, schools for deaf children and key organisations in the public and voluntary sectors working with deaf children and their families.
